Saponification of neutral oils is slow when performed at boiling condition under atmospheric pressure. However, this process will be very quick when higher temperatures and higher pressures are applied.

This continuous saponification plant features this later conditions together with continuous separation of glycerine waters, and the final continuous formation of neat soap.
