FULLY-BOILED SOAP-MAKING

This is a batch process which involves the separation of glycerine.

After the complete saponification of oils, by addition of brine (solution of sodium chloride in water), the content of the pan is left to settle in an upper layer of soap at about 60% TFM content and a lower layer of water containing glycerine and the water soluble impurities originally in the oils.

After the glyceric waters have separated the soap is further washed diluting it again with water to release the impurities still contained. One further addition of brine separates the neat soap at ca. 62% TFM from the water solution containing the remaining impurities.

The soap so produced is perfectly "clean" even if the raw material are not.
